BEAU’S Oktoberfest an Outstanding Success - Oompah-pah!

And then some for inaugural Oktoberfest celebration.
Fall colours weren’t the only thing to come to Vankleek Hill this weekend. The fields were full of lederhosen, dirndls, green alpine hats and steins. Plenty of steins! Today, residents are moving a little slower and still recovering from the inaugural Beau’s Oktoberfest celebration.
Saturday's event brought more than 5,000 people through the gates, and they consumed numerous pints of beer. Final numbers are still being calculated, however it’s estimated that the event will raise over $10,000 for the Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society
An “overwhelming success” is how Steve Beauchesne of BEAU’S All Natural Brewing Company describes this past weekend’s event, which had events and activities for the whole family including a petting zoo, hay wagon rides, delicious Bavarian food and live oompah music.
A first time event of this size and nature is not without a few bumps most notably long lines which will definitely be corrected for next years celebration.
Despite the line ups, the crowd was positively festive.
Demand for the fall seasonal beer 'NightMarzen' - an Oktoberfest lager was so high that it actually sold out!
But have no fear, brewmasters are working on a new batch that should be ready within 2 weeks.
Celebrity guest and beer connoisseur George Wendt, famous for the role of ‘Norm’ on the TV series Cheers! jokingly commented that ‘what’s a beer festival without a few hiccups”.
