Channel Ocho

Mexican-spiced dark ale • 8.9% • Wild Oats No. 41

Channel Ocho is an extra-strong unfiltered dark ale, judiciously spiced with organic chipotle peppers, cinnamon sticks and whole cloves for a mild heat that tickles the tongue, and a warmth that lingers after sipping.

History & Style

Channel Ocho is a creative riff on a spiced winter ale. Inspired by Mexican hot chocolate, we added organic cocoa powder and cacao nibs, cinnamon and cloves, and chipotle peppers to give a smoky note and some heat to the finish. Beau’s first brewed this beer recipe in Spring 2014. The label art is an old-school TV with a traditional test pattern, set of course to Channel Ocho (Spanish for eight).

Tasting Notes

Channel Ocho pours a dark mahogany. Aromas are spicy and earthy, with hints of stone fruits and banana. Cocoa and spicy cinnamon meet smoky chipotle, with raisins and figs in the background. The finish has a lingering warmth.
